It has been six months since I last constructed a piece online detailing my experience over recent months. Positively the success of T&T has negated any time to blog which bodes well for future successes. As I sit here in searing heat whilst listening to Baddiel, Skinner & Lightening Seeds – Three Lions, I should explain that I have an eclectic if not arbitrary taste in music pre 2003; which has at least offered some light relief from what can only be described as largely uncomfortable weather!
Sheringham, Shearer and Seaman, we had it all as football nation in 1998, and Rob Lee too. Glenn Hoddle wasn’t bad either. Being a good football manager, motivator, selector and tactician may be near impossible. There are only a handful of people in the top division who are quantifiably good in their position of responsibility. Even Rafa Benítez despite his best efforts was unable to save Newcastle from relegation. He even persists with a beard even though no bearded manager has ever lobbied for a title challenge.
The acquiescence felt when these conglomerates recruit and just as rashly opt to address faltering performances through the medium of the press by detailing news of parting company ‘by mutual consent’ I find deeply concerning. Whilst I am not able to preside over the next replacement of an inevitable sacking of a top flight manager, I am presently recruiting for two internal opportunities and barring an alarming performance I consider that performance can be affected positively through effective management. I trust that any new recruit with Thompson & Terry ought to be afforded the courtesy of time, ample opportunity and the necessary tools and investment in order to achieve personal career goals.
One can only envision the dexterity necessary to conduct an orchestra of multi-millionaire virtuosos. Equally I cannot fathom how many football bosses effectively manage the relationship with truculent footballers with a penchant for acrimonious tendencies whilst able to determine how a business shall and shall not operate. In this climate it is a luxury to manage a team of able recruiters working for the same common goal.
We are recruiting at Thompson & Terry for an Apprentice Recruitment Resourcer/Administrator and an experienced Recruitment Consultant. If you, or someone that you know might be interested please contact me in confidence.
