With the Governments Furlough Scheme ending tomorrow (Saturday 31st October 2020), it is with no doubt that all those employees, who have been on the job retention scheme, are looking for ways to prepare for their return to work, whether this be full time or part time. So, I have put together this blog to give you all some advice towards your return to work.
Good night’s sleep!
Being furloughed, I know how much my day to day routine has changed (if you can even call it a routine!) so I am very nervous about going straight back into full time employment and working everyday. The best advice I can give is to really enjoy your remaining days off and relax this weekend – Monday will come around very quickly, so make sure you get a good night’s sleep! It is so important to start back fresh and ready to learn and work!
Prepare the night before!
If you are returning to an office environment, I would advise packing your bag/lunch the night before. We have all probably forgotten how busy the mornings get, so be one step ahead! You have also probably forgotten about the commute to work (it was nice whilst it lasted!), so make sure you leave yourself plenty of time for your morning commute, you do not want to be late for your first day back.
Positive Mental Attitude!
I know it has been hard to stay motivated and positive over the past few months, however, you are lucky to be able to return to a secure job that you love. I would really advise trying to stay positive and feel motivated to begin working again, it will really help settle your nerves of your first day back and of course, the nerves of COVID-19 in general. Before you know it, it will feel like you never even had time off!

I hope all those who have been furloughed over the past few months are really looking forward to returning to their jobs and on behalf of Thompson & Terry Recruitment, I would like to wish you all the very best of luck!
