From Luxury Superyachts to Thompson & Terry Recruitment!
If you’d told me this time last year that I’d trade a life at sea for a small recruitment office in Abingdon, I probably wouldn’t have believed you. But here I am – and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Before joining Thompson & Terry Recruitment, I spent four years travelling the world as a superyacht stewardess, working for some of the wealthiest people on the planet. It definitely had its glamorous moments – think champagne sunsets and Mediterranean coastlines – but it was also incredibly demanding. A typical day might begin in Monaco – making beds to six-star standards, ensuring seamless service for high-profile guests, and always staying composed and professional, no matter what was thrown our way. It taught me discipline, professionalism, and how to think on my feet – all skills I was excited to bring with me to Thompson & Terry Recruitment.
After three Atlantic crossings and more than a few “what-am-I-doing” moments, I found myself craving something different: a chance to build a career on land, wake up in my own bed, and live a more settled life – even if I wasn’t quite sure what that would look like at the time.
That’s when I found Thompson & Terry Recruitment – a company that truly reflected my values of honesty, hard work, and putting people first. Those values came through right from my very first call with Aoife. I was genuinely blown away by how supportive, thorough, and refreshingly honest the process was. It felt completely different from any job search I’d experienced before.
Of course, making the career switch wasn’t without nerves – I’d gone from ocean views to Oxfordshire office views – but from day one, I knew I’d found the right fit. Just like on superyachts, it’s about listening closely, being adaptable, and going the extra mile to deliver the best possible experience.
