Who Are We?

Thompson & Terry Recruitment is an independent Abingdon, Oxfordshire based recruitment agency with a real difference, in that we apply a headhunting approach to every role that we work on from graduate level to board level.

We vow to only send candidates to our clients that we would personally employ ourselves and as a result 86.4% of the first CV that we submitted to our clients in 2024 successfully got the job compared to the significantly lower national average of circa 5%.

We are proud of our specialist divisions within Office Recruitment, Graduate Recruitment, Biotech Recruitment and Executive Search Recruitment.

Mission Statement

From the very beginning, our goal has been to provide a transparent, honest and ethical recruitment solution to candidates, clients and our own staff. We vow to only submit a candidate to a client if we would personally employ them ourselves. Our ambition is to grow together as a business, as individuals and as part of the wider community.

Our History

• August 2014: Thompson & Terry Recruitment is founded by local business partners Ben Thompson and Mike Terry
• May 2015: We move into our first office, located in central Abingdon
• June 2015: We hire our very first team member
• April 2016: Ben is appointed the president of BNI and announced the #1 member in the UK
• June 2018: Ben becomes our sole shareholder and Managing Director
• September 2018: We launched our very own graduate programme
• February 2019: Ben is announced Finalist for the HSBC Business Leader of the Year Award at the South & Vale Business Awards
• June 2019: Ben is nominated as one of B4‘s ‘People to Watch’ in their 50 to Watch awards
• September 2019: Aoife Griffin joined Thompson & Terry Recruitment on our graduate programme and has since received three promotions to Candidate Experience Manager
• September 2019: Ben is shortlisted for the ‘Business Advocate of the Year’ award at The British Business Awards
• January 2021: Ben launches Oxfordshire’s first business radio show – The Business Brunch on Get Radio
• October 2023: We celebrate the placement of the 75th inductee onto our popular graduate programme, which we have successfully rolled out across businesses large and micro
• April 2024: We are announced Finalists in OXBA‘s SME of the Year Award
• August 2024: Our 10th year in business!
• April 2025: We are announced Finalists in OXBA‘s SME of the Year and Ben is announced as Finalist for Young Business Person of the Year Award!
• May 2025: We launched our specialist Biotech Recruitment Division and formalised our Executive Search Recruitment Division.

As our MD, Ben Thompson has ambitious plans to continue to grow and develop our independent Abingdon based recruitment agency, with a focus on ensuring that we are always improving our services and strengthening our client and candidate relationships.
