Position: Gap Year Engagement Officer
Location: Hybrid role (1 day per week in the Newbury office) with regular travel across the UK and overseas opportunities
Salary: £25,000 – £28,000 basic salary (+ bonus)
Hours: Full-time worked flexibly over a 5-day week (requires attending events in the evening during busy periods)

Opportunity: 

Thompson & Terry Recruitment are working with a purposeful business and charity who inspire young people to volunteer overseas. They are looking to recruit a passionate, value driven and engaging Gap Year Engagement Officer to join their team and add value to a vital part of the business. 

As Gap Year Engagement Officer, the focus of your job will be to work closely with, engage and recruit UK students to work within their overseas hubs as part of an internship, sandwich year or post-graduation.  

This role has real scope for an autonomous person to make the role their own and whilst this is a hybrid role, it will also involve travelling to universities, attending freshers’ fairs, doing presentations and communicating with students across the country both in groups and on a 1-1 basis. 

As their charity’s sole focus is international development, it is essential that the successful candidate has a passion for making a difference to communities globally and is really excited by the opportunity to recruit other students to make a tangible difference. 

In addition to the day-to-day duties required, the Gap Year Engagement Officer will also be responsible for posting on social media platforms and building relationships with both students and universities across the UK.  

This vacancy could be well suited to a candidate who has experience in graduate recruitment or within a role that involves engaging with and inspiring young people.

Requirements: 

• Experience of recruiting graduates or working within a student engagement type capacity 
• The confidence to present to groups of students both virtually and in person in an inspiring and engaging way 
• A strong and engaging communicator at all levels with a strong level of English (both written and verbal) 
• The ability to manage your own diary and be flexible to adapt and adjust to situations due to time differences between overseas hubs but also evening event requirements (freshers fairs as an example) 
• As there would be some travel associated with the job, a Full UK driving license with your own car would be required
