Hello, I’m Jessica, and for the past 10 years I’ve been dedicated to working in the childcare industry.
Back in 2013, I embarked on a Level 3 Diploma at the City of Oxford College, focusing on ‘Children and Young People’s Workforce’ which led me to join a prominent childcare company, where my determination to advance my career really flourished.
Driven by my passion for growth and development, I earned four promotions within the company beginning as a Qualified Nursery Practitioner and working my way up to become a Room Leader, Team Leader, Quality Manager, and ultimately, a Deputy Manager. Along this journey, I was honoured to be shortlisted for the ‘Outstanding Practitioner’ award, recognising my exceptional relationships with staff and parents, and my commitment to delivering outstanding practice.
Despite my success in childcare, I felt a strong desire for a new challenge and the challenges the industry faced during the pandemic, particularly in recruitment, solidified my decision. I wanted to channel my passion for helping others in a new direction.
That’s when I discovered Thompson and Terry Recruitment in Abingdon. Ben, Aoife, and Cara warmly welcomed me and guided me through the job-hunting process, putting my mind at ease. I was so impressed with their service as an agency and I had noticed a job vacancy on their website. I asked if they would consider me for their vacancy as a Business Executive, soon had an interview and was successful which I was completely over the moon about!
At Thompson and Terry, I have found an environment that nurtures both personal and professional growth. Ben, our Managing Director, shares my passion for progression and stepping out of comfort zones. He’s been a supportive mentor every step of the way, encouraging me to attend networking events and improve my pitching skills. Already, I’ve connected with wonderful small business owners in the Oxfordshire area, building valuable professional relationships.
What I admire most about Thompson and Terry is their commitment to providing free job advice. Even in my first week on the job, Ben offered guidance to my younger sister, who’s currently looking for her first job after finishing university and has really built up her confidence with job hunting.
With my background in senior management, I’ve found that my skills are highly transferable to this new role. My passion for helping others has seamlessly transitioned into this exciting career, and I’m thoroughly enjoying every moment of it.
Embracing new challenges has always been my forte, and I’ve never settled for anything less than the best.

Changing careers can be a daunting prospect, but taking that leap can lead to incredible personal and professional growth. Reflect on your strengths, values, and what truly ignites your enthusiasm.
