As a recruitment business owner going into 2023, I reflect back to my thoughts that I wrote around this time last year and conclude 2022 has been the roller coaster that many of us predicted, but isn’t that what we love about the world of recruitment!
If I had a pound for every time I heard employers say it’s hard to find people, or candidates worrying about what the future holds in the current economic market, I’d have broken up for Christmas by now! But in reality, that’s what the 2022 employment market has looked like and predict the same again going into 2023.
On the recruitment side, like many employers we have found the employment market a challenge, which I think it evidenced by the fact that at our average time investment per hire has increased by almost 290%, which has understandably put pressure on us and indeed our clients.
Having said that, we are so pleased that we have stuck to our company values of only sending candidates that we’d personally employ ourselves, as by doing so we have actually increased our success rate from the first CV sent to c.85% (final number published in January, as we have an interview next week) against the national average of around 5%.
For me, the best thing that has happened this year is learning. We have strong company values here at Thompson & Terry Recruitment, which we haven’t moved from but what we have done is really reflected and put so much effort into how could we tweak the way we do things to be better.
We are now closing for the festive period (well almost, I’ll do a little client work) and will be back in 2023 with lots of exciting things in the pipeline.
Thank you once again to my team, our clients, and friends of the firm for supporting us in 2022.
